Fridge contemplates its future
A fridge thinking about its future. It fancied a change of scene but is now missing the kitchen. ‘I had a worthwhile job there,’ it muses, remembering the milk and the butter dish.. ‘Out here, I’m just in the way,’ it sighs to the silent tarmac.
A good fridge, in the wrong place. Needs moving. That’s what editing is about. Your words aren’t ‘wrong’ but they might not be in the best place.
Just as the fridge made me stop and think ‘what’s that doing there? Flytippers!!’ , a misplaced word will slow your readers. A fridge works best in a kitchen. And words can work best with an edit.
